2024 Foresters Burial Insurance Review – Pros & Cons

Foresters is a good company. We’ve used them successfully in the past, but we rarely recommend them anymore.

They are worthy of consideration for some health issues, but they may be inappropriate if you have many other health issues.

What to Ask Before Buying Foresters Burial Insurance

What Insurance Plans Does Foresters offer?

Foresters burial insurance plans are called PlanRight whole life insurance.

It is a simplified issue insurance plan with no medical exam. You only need to answer a set of health questions to qualify.

There are three benefit options that you can qualify for, depending on your health status, and the death benefit can be either level, graded, or modified.

PlanRight Burial Insurance Features
Lifetime coveragecoverage up to age 121
Level premiums premiums will never increase
Level benefit death benefit will never decrease
Accumulates cash value builds up cash value over the years
Common Carrier Accidental Death Rider provided at no extra cost
State Availability All 50 States

#1 – PLANRIGHT LEVEL DEATH BENEFIT PLAN

This is a reasonably good option in certain situations and can be competitively priced for specific health issues.

Features:

  • Lifetime coverage
  • Level premium
  • Available in all 50 states
  • Maximum death benefit: $35,000
  • Benefit schedule: First-day coverage, no waiting period

If you answer NO to all the health questions and are clear with the prescription history check, you will qualify for the Foresters level death benefit plan with first-day coverage.

Once approved, 100% of the death benefits will be paid to your beneficiary when you die. The maximum death benefit you can buy is $35,000.

The level death benefit plan is their best plan. If you are generally healthy, you can qualify for this plan. This plan is also designed to accept minor health conditions for first-day coverage.

#2 – PLANRIGHT GRADED DEATH BENEFIT PLAN

The graded death benefit by Foresters is often overly expensive for most people, and we would rarely even consider recommending this coverage option.

Features:

  • Lifetime coverage
  • Level premium
  • Maximum Face amount: $20,000
  • Available in all 50 states

Death Benefit schedule:

  • First-year – 30%
  • Second-year – 70%
  • Third-year – 100%

To qualify for the graded death benefit plan, you must answer no to all the questions in the knockout section and no to all the questions in the modified section.

You will notice that all the questions here are related to chronic illnesses. If you answer yes to any questions, you will be approved for the graded death benefit plan.

#3 – PLANRIGHT MODIFIED DEATH BENEFIT PLAN

This is a terrible plan price-wise, which costs more than other plans with two-year waiting periods.

Features:

  • 2-year waiting period
  • Lifetime coverage
  • Level premium
  • Maximum Face amount: $15,000
  • Available in all 50 states

PlanRight Modified death benefit plan is designed for people with significant health problems.

The maximum face amount you can buy is only $15,000. The death benefit is limited for the first two years of the policy. If you die from a natural cause during the first two years, your beneficiary will only receive a return of your premiums plus 10% interest.

Foresters will only pay 100% death benefit during the waiting period for accidental death. You must outlive the two-year waiting period for your beneficiary to receive your full death benefit.

In our opinion, getting a guaranteed issue no-health questions policy will be a much better choice than accepting a Foresters Modified plan.

Can You Get Foresters Burial Insurance Policy With No Waiting Period?

YES, Foresters offers a first-day coverage plan with no waiting period with their level coverage option.

If you qualify, the PlanRight level death benefit plan gives you full coverage from the first day. Your beneficiary will receive your full death benefit when you pass away.

Does Foresters Have Any Hidden “Fine Print” In Their Policy? (GI & GRADED ONLY)

Foresters don’t have any “fine print” clauses in their policies. Just be aware that their two lower-tier plans have waiting periods that many life insurance agents don’t explain very well.

Also, make sure you read your policy once you get it in the mail to verify the agent who helped you answered all the health questions correctly.

If you answer “NO” to all the questions in the knockout section, you need to answer the questions in the modified section to determine what plan you will qualify for.

You also need to circle the conditions to which you answered “YES.”
