FOR EASIER NAVIGATION:

Does Security National Offer First-day Coverage?

YES, Security National offers two first-day coverage plans, but they are more expensive than other companies.

If you qualify, their Simple Security is preferred; standard whole life insurance gives you full coverage from the first day. Your beneficiary will receive your full death benefit when you pass away.

Pros Of Security National Burial Insurance

Easy application process – can be done over the phone or online

Good pricing for smokers – who are 70 years and older

Coverage available – to 86-90 years old

Cons Of Security National Burial Insurance

Have a height and weight chart – you may be disqualified if you are overweight, obese, or morbidly obese.

Not diabetic-friendly – you may only qualify for the standard plan if you currently use insulin

Security National Burial Insurance Products

Security National calls its burial insurance products “Simple Security.” The Simple Security whole life insurance has three plans:

  1.   Preferred – first-day full coverage
  2.   Standard – first-day full coverage
  3.   Modified – two-year waiting period

The type of plan you will be eligible for is based on your answer to the health questions on the application and your prescription history.

SIMPLE SECURITY PRODUCT FEATURES

Cash value builds up Cash value accumulates over time

SIMPLE SECURITY PREFERRED PLAN

The preferred plan approves applicants in good health or with some minor health issues that come with age, like high cholesterol, high blood pressure, arthritis, and controlled diabetes. It has a level death benefit, which means there is no waiting period, and the coverage starts from the first day.

Simple Security Preferred Plan Product Features:

Eligible Ages: 40 to 90 years Old

Minimum Face Amount: $2,500

Face Amounts Available:

  • Ages 40–75 maximum of $35,000
  • Ages 76–80 maximum of $15,000
  • Ages 81-90 maximum of $10,000

Payout Schedule: immediate death benefit from the first day

You will be eligible for this plan if you answer NO to all the health questions and clear your prescription history. If you pass away for any reason, your beneficiary will receive 100% of the death benefit.

If you are generally healthy or with minor health issues, this plan from Security National is adequate. Their preferred plan is averagely priced. It comes on the top or second to the lowest premium.

SIMPLE SECURITY STANDARD PLAN

This burial insurance plan from Security National offers first-day full coverage if you qualify. If you answer NO to the knockout and graded sections, you will be offered this plan.

Insulin use is the only question under this section, but you will be offered the modified plan if you answer yes to the insulin use question.

Standard Plan Product Features

Eligible Ages: 40 to 90 years Old

Face Amounts Available:

  • Ages 40–75 maximum of $25,000
  • Ages 76–80 maximum of $15,000
  • Ages 81-90 maximum of $10,000

Payout Schedule: immediate death benefit from day one

Among the three plans, this plan is not their best. This product’s price is higher than most life insurance companies. If the company puts you under this plan, call us. We can get you approved by other companies with a less expensive premium.

SIMPLE SECURITY MODIFIED PLAN

Security National’s modified plan is designed to accept applicants with some impairment who do not qualify for the preferred or standard plans.

If you answered yes to two conditions, you would still be eligible for a modified plan. However, you will be denied coverage if you answered yes to three or more health questions.

Modified Plan Product Features:

Eligible Ages: 40 to 85 years old

Face Amounts Available:

  • Ages 40–75 maximum of $25,000
  • Ages 76–80 maximum of $15,000
  • Ages 81-85 maximum of $10,000

Payout Schedule: Modified death benefit for two years

The modified plan by Security National does not offer first-day full coverage. This plan has a two-year graded benefit or waiting period for coverage.

This means if you qualify for this plan and pass away due to a non-accidental cause during the first two years, your beneficiary will receive only 110% of the premiums you paid the company.

Only in the third year and beyond will the company pay the full face amount of your policy.

This plan is suitable for people with some health issues that can’t get traditional coverage.

If you have any of these medical conditions, this modified plan from Security National may be an option:

  • Supplementary oxygen use
  • Cancer diagnosis or treatment within the past 24 months
  • Angina or heart attack within the previous 12 months
  • Heart or any circulatory surgery within the last 12 months
  • Congestive heart failure
  • Alcohol or drug abuse within the past 12 months

Security National Burial Insurance Riders

Accidental Death Benefit Rider – doubles the death benefit amount if you die from an accident.

Dependent Child Rider – you can get coverage for your children or legally adopted children 0-17 years old

OTHER BENEFITS:

POLICY LOANS – you can borrow up to 100% of your cash value. This is tax-free. Loans reduce your cash value amount and are subtracted from your death benefit. The interest on policy loans varies by state.

When Does Security National Burial Insurance Make The Most Sense?

Security National is one of the few companies offering coverage to people between 86 and 90. It makes the company unique because it’s very rare to find companies offering first-day coverage for this age group.

Security National Life Simple Security plans offer reasonable coverage and rates, especially their preferred plan.

Their graded plan is a better option for people with significant health conditions. The product’s price is more expensive compared to other higher-rated insurance companies. But beware, they will put you on the standard plan because of insulin use.

If you are an insulin-dependent diabetic, we can get you approved by another company that accepts this condition and offer a lower premium. Most final expense companies didn’t penalize insulin users and approved them for first-day coverage.

Applications are made online, and policyholders can log in to submit a claim. This process is simple for internet users, but some customers uncomfortable with online applications and claims may look elsewhere for coverage.

Security National Underwriting Guidelines

Most life insurance companies conduct phone interviews to verify your health. Security National lets your agent fill in the application on their portal and let you sign the application.

After submitting your application, their system will electronically check your prescription history to validate your health and answer the health questions. After a few seconds, the system will assign what plan you will qualify for and how much you will pay.

The health questions carry the most weight in determining if they will approve your application. Here’s a copy of the Security National’s health questionnaire.
